Is There a Claude Code Certification? What Exists and Which Exam Covers It

Last updated October 15, 2026

Short answer: no Claude Code–only Pearson exam

There is no dedicated “Claude Code certification” on Pearson’s Anthropic programme page. Pearson lists four exams — CCAO-F, CCAR-F, CCAR-P, and CCDV-F — and none is titled solely as a Claude Code credential. Claude Code skills sit inside broader role blueprints: heaviest on Architect Foundations (Claude Code Configuration & Workflows at 20%), lighter on Developer Foundations (Claude Code at 3.1%).

Public Claude Academy Claude Code courses can issue completion badges after quizzes. Those are learning signals, not Credly Claude Certified credentials. PrepGenAICerts is independent and not affiliated with Anthropic. If you live in CLAUDE.md, hooks, Agent Skills, and team Claude Code workflows, start with CCAR-F; if Claude Code is one tool among API work, also review CCDV-F.

What people mean by “Claude Code certification”

Search queries usually collapse three products: public Academy completion badges, Partner Academy Skilljar prep certificates, and Pearson-proctored Claude Certified exams with Credly badges. Only the third is what most employers mean by “Claude certified.” Academy and Partner Academy completion artefacts are legitimate proofs of structured learning — they do not substitute for a proctored exam seat, Partner Network eligibility, or a Credly badge. Conflating them is why free Claude Code courses get mistaken for official certification.

This page maps Claude Code onto official domains using each credential’s meta, explains the Partner Network registration gate, and points to independent prep such as Claude Code 101 and labs. Official registration and scheduling remain on Anthropic Partner Academy and Pearson — this site does not sell vouchers or grant partner access.

The four Pearson exams and where Claude Code appears

List prices on the Partner Academy catalogue and FAQ are $99 (CCAO-F), $125 (CCDV-F), $125 (CCAR-F), and $175 (CCAR-P) USD. Pearson’s public Anthropic page lists codes and delivery but not fee figures. We do not publish partner discount percentages. A domain literally named for Claude Code appears on Architect Foundations and Developer Foundations; CCAO-F and CCAR-P do not expose a Claude Code–titled band in site meta — that does not mean Claude Code never appears in adjacent study materials, only that those exams do not isolate it as a named weight band.

If Claude Code appears in both architecture workflows and shipping developer tooling for you, budgeting for both Foundations exams is $250 USD at list before retakes, plus separate prep time. There is no required sequence; prefer the exam that matches your current title and daily artefacts first. CCAO-F at $99 is cheaper but is not a Claude Code weight vehicle; CCAR-P at $175 is senior architecture, not a substitute “Claude Code cert.”

  • CCAR-F: Claude Code Configuration & Workflows 20% — plus Agentic Architecture 27%, Prompt/Structured Output 20%, Tool Design & MCP 18%, Context & Reliability 15%.
  • CCDV-F: Claude Code 3.1% — blueprint dominated by Applications and Integration (33.1%) and Model Selection (16.8%).
  • CCAO-F / CCAR-P: no Claude Code–named domain in meta; Associate is productivity/Projects; Professional is senior architecture without a Claude Code weight band.

CCAR-F: Claude Code Configuration & Workflows at 20%

Architect Foundations is the strongest official exam signal for Claude Code depth: 60 scored items, 120 minutes, pass score 720/1000, fee $125, validity 12 months. The audience summary describes solution architects configuring Claude Code for team workflows — CLAUDE.md, Agent Skills, MCP server integrations, and plan mode — typically with months of practical Claude API / Agent SDK / Claude Code / MCP experience.

A 20% domain plus adjacent MCP (18%) and agentic architecture (27%) bands puts a large share of scored emphasis near the tooling surface Claude Code practitioners use daily. Prompt/structured output (20%) and context/reliability (15%) still need dedicated study — a Claude Code–centric job does not excuse weak structured-output skills on a 720 cut score. Compare: CCDV-F vs CCAR-F.

CCDV-F: Claude Code domain at 3.1%

Developer Foundations includes an explicit Claude Code domain at 3.1%: 53 scored items, 120 minutes, 720/1000, $125, 12-month validity — same list fee as CCAR-F, fewer items. Audience: engineers who ship production Claude solutions, operate Claude Code for codebase modernization, and also integrate via API/SDKs, evals, tools, and MCP.

At 3.1%, do not over-index on Claude Code at the expense of Applications and Integration (33.1%) or Model Selection (16.8%). Choose CCDV-F when Claude Code is one tool in a shipping practice; choose CCAR-F when team Claude Code configuration and orchestration design are core. List fees are $125 each with no required sequence.

Academy courses, Partner Network, and résumé wording

Public Claude Academy is free. Completion badges do not expire per the Academy FAQ and are not Claude certification exams. Catalogue examples have included Claude Code Foundations / Advanced offerings; we do not publish an exhaustive inventory. Partner Academy prep certificates likewise are not Pearson/Credly credentials. Registration for proctored exams still requires Claude Partner Network affiliation and a company-domain email — the 20% or 3.1% Claude Code domain weights do not create a public registration exception, and independent prep cannot unlock Pearson.

Credentials are valid 12 months; on-time renewal is a free non-proctored Partner Academy assessment; lapse means a full paid retake. Retake waits after a fail are 14 / 30 / 90 days with a maximum of four attempts per exam per rolling year. Claude Code familiarity alone does not guarantee a pass on a multi-domain blueprint. See free vs paid and Academy vs Partner Academy.

  • CCAR-F holders: say you passed Architect Foundations, which includes a 20% Claude Code Configuration & Workflows domain — do not invent “Claude Code Certified.”
  • CCDV-F holders: note the 3.1% Claude Code domain inside a broader developer blueprint.
  • Academy Claude Code course: label as course completion, not Claude Certified.
  • PrepGenAICerts Claude Code 101: independent prep, not an Anthropic credential.

Which exam if you live in Claude Code day to day

Start with CCAR-F when CLAUDE.md, hooks, Agent Skills, MCP inside Claude Code, and plan-mode workflows are central. Prefer CCDV-F when you primarily ship API apps and use Claude Code as a smaller slice. Take CCAO-F only for non-developer Claude Projects fluency — not for Claude Code weight. Consider CCAR-P for senior solution design and governance, optionally after Foundations.

How to study Claude Code topics for CCAR-F and CCDV-F

Map study time to published weights. On CCAR-F, give deliberate practice to Claude Code Configuration & Workflows (20%), and keep Tool Design & MCP (18%) and Agentic Architecture (27%) in the same block — candidates who only memorise CLAUDE.md syntax without orchestration patterns under-prepare for the largest weight. Still cover prompt/structured output (20%) and context/reliability (15%). On CCDV-F, treat Claude Code as a focused module next to Tools/MCPs (10.6%) and Agents/Workflows (14.7%), then return to Applications and Integration (33.1%) — a study plan that spends half its hours only on Claude Code CLI features is misaligned with CCDV-F.

Common myths about Claude Code certificates

Corrections stay inside verified facts: no Claude Code–only Pearson exam; Academy badges ≠ Credly Claude Certified; CCAR-F weights Claude Code at 20%; CCDV-F at 3.1%; Partner Network still gates registration.

  • Myth: finishing a free Academy Claude Code course makes you Claude Certified. Reality: completion badges ≠ proctored credentials.
  • Myth: there is a Pearson exam named only “Claude Code.” Reality: Pearson lists CCAO-F, CCAR-F, CCAR-P, CCDV-F.
  • Myth: CCDV-F is “the Claude Code cert” because developers use the tool. Reality: Claude Code is 3.1%; application integration dominates.
  • Myth: CCAR-F ignores coding tools. Reality: 20% is explicitly Claude Code Configuration & Workflows.
  • Myth: independent practice unlocks Pearson registration. Reality: only Partner Network eligibility does.
