Proctored Claude Certified exams are not free. List fees are $99–$175 USD, registration requires Claude Partner Network affiliation, and Pearson delivers the exam. Free Claude Academy courses and completion badges are real — they are not Credly Claude Certified credentials. Search phrases like “anthropic certification free” usually collapse three products: public Academy badges, Partner Academy prep certificates, and Pearson-proctored Claude Certified exams (CCAO-F, CCDV-F, CCAR-F, CCAR-P). Proctored exam list prices: $99, $125, and $175
Official list prices on the Anthropic Partner Academy catalogue and FAQ are CCAO-F at $99, CCDV-F and CCAR-F at $125, and CCAR-P at $175 USD. Pearson’s public Anthropic page lists codes and delivery but not fee figures. Partner-tier discounts may appear at checkout; we do not publish a discount percentage because it was not confirmed on public Anthropic pages in our facts pass. Partner Network gate: free prep does not unlock registration
Even with $0 study materials, you cannot register for a proctored Claude certification unless your organisation is in the Claude Partner Network. Pearson’s Anthropic page and Partner Academy eligibility both state non-network members cannot register. Public Academy courses and independent prep (including this site) do not create that entitlement.
Practical sequencing differs by status. Partners: use Partner Academy exam guides and prep, optionally public Academy and independent practice for volume, then register and schedule through the official path. Non-partners: use public Academy plus independent prep to build skill; do not plan a Pearson sit date until partner eligibility is real. If you are on a partner email and still cannot check out, use Anthropic’s partner / certifications support — not unofficial voucher codes. What is free: Academy badges vs Credly Claude Certified
Public Claude Academy hosts free courses. The Academy FAQ says completion badges issue when required quizzes pass, badges do not expire, and those badges are not Claude certification exams. Partner Skilljar prep can also issue learning-activity certificates — still not Pearson/Credly credentials. Legacy Skilljar certificates remain yours per the Academy FAQ; that continuity does not convert a completion certificate into a proctored Credly certification.
Catalogue examples have included AI Fluency and Claude Code Foundations / Advanced offerings; we do not publish an exhaustive badge list because the catalogue changes. Label Academy work as course completion, not “Claude Certified Architect.” When someone asks “can I get Claude certification for free?”, translate first: free learning and badges — yes; CCAO-F / CCDV-F / CCAR-F / CCAR-P without the exam fee — no.

Where “free” appears after you pay: on-time renewal
Claude Certified credentials are valid for 12 months from the award date. On-time renewal is a free, non-proctored / open-book assessment on Partner Academy. If the credential lapses, you retake the full exam at full fee. Major content changes may require a full retake instead of renewal. Put your award date on a calendar so the free renewal window is not missed — renewal is administered on Partner Academy, not on this site.
Think in rows: free Academy badge ($0, no Credly title, no expiry) versus initial Claude Certified award (list fee + Partner gate + 12-month clock) versus on-time renewal ($0 assessment) versus lapse (full fee again). Study time is still your largest non-cash cost on every row. If you only need skills, stop after free learning. Name the outcome first: skill only, an Academy completion badge, or a Credly Claude Certified credential. If you need Credly, confirm Partner Network eligibility before budgeting a sit date. Partners should treat the official exam guide as the syllabus, use free Academy and optional independent practice for volume, then register only on Partner Academy and schedule with Pearson (OnVUE or test centre). Proctored delivery also means government photo ID matching your registration name — free study never replaces those day-of requirements.
Free study should still follow role fit even when you never sit. Associate targets productivity and Projects users; Developer targets API/agent engineers; Architect Foundations targets agentic systems and Claude Code workflows; Professional targets senior governance. Paying for an exam only makes sense when role match and eligibility both exist — cheapest list price is not the same as best fit.
