How Much Do Claude Certifications Cost? Fees, Retakes and Renewal

Last updated October 20, 2026

How much do Claude certifications cost?

List fees are $99 (CCAO-F), $125 (CCDV-F and CCAR-F / CCA-F), and $175 (CCAR-P). Those are paid Pearson-proctored seats — not free Claude Academy courses. Prices come from the Partner Academy catalogue and exam guides (Version 1.0, Effective July 2026); Pearson’s program page lists codes but not fees.

Delivery is through Pearson Professional Assessments (also known as Pearson VUE). Badges issue via Credly after you pass. Registration requires Claude Partner Network affiliation and a partner company-domain email. The fee table on this page is live metadata — fees, items, timing, and validity stay aligned with each hub.

Budget owners should separate three buckets: (1) official exam fee via Partner Academy / Pearson channels; (2) optional prep such as this site’s Premium tier; (3) staff study time. Only bucket (1) is required to sit the exam if you are eligible.

Why the four list prices differ

Associate Foundations sits at $99 for professionals who use Claude in workflows with limited to moderate technical depth. Architect Foundations and Developer Foundations share the $125 tier even though blueprints and item counts differ. Architect Professional lists at $175 for broader mid- to senior architecture scope.

Item counts are not a simple fee ladder: Associate and Architect Foundations are both 60-item exams at different fees; Developer Foundations is 53 items at $125; Architect Professional is 63 items at $175. All four use 120-minute timing and a 720/1000 pass score in site metadata, with 12-month validity.

Fit to role matters more than sticker prestige. Paying for Professional when you need Associate still burns the higher fee and starts a retake wait. Confirm the official code on the exam codes page before checkout.

• CCAO-F — $99, 60 items, 120 min, 12-month validity, 7 domains (hub). • CCAR-F / CCA-F — $125, 60 items, 120 min, 12-month validity, 5 domains (hub). • CCDV-F — $125, 53 items, 120 min, 12-month validity, 8 domains (hub). • CCAR-P — $175, 63 items, 120 min, 12-month validity, 7 domains (hub).

Retake waiting periods (quick reference)

Candidates who do not pass may retake the exam after a required waiting period that increases with each failed attempt.

Retake waiting periods after failed attempts
After attemptWait before next attempt
Attempt 114 days
Attempt 230 days
Attempt 390 days

Maximum 4 attempts per exam per rolling 12 months. Limits apply per exam, so not passing one certification exam does not prevent registering for a different one. The exam fee applies to each attempt.

Prep on this site: free tier is $0; Premium is 1 year of access per certification (currently …) — see pricing. Premium is optional and separate from official exam fees.

Partner-tier discounts: what we can say

Checkout on Partner Academy may show a lower amount based on your organisation’s partner tier. Official registration steps note that the fee at checkout reflects any discount that applies. This site does not publish a discount percentage — none was confirmed on the official pages in our verified fact pack.

Plan against list prices ($99 / $125 / $125 / $175) as a ceiling, then use whatever checkout shows for your account. If finance needs a purchase-order estimate before you have login access, quote the list price and note that partner-tier pricing may reduce the amount — without promising a rate.

Discounts, when present, still apply per attempt. On-time renewal is free, so partner pricing usually matters for first attempts, retakes, and lapsed recertification — not for renewing on time.

Retake costs and waiting periods

The exam fee applies to every attempt. After a fail, wait 14 days, then 30, then 90, with a maximum of 4 attempts per exam per rolling 12 months. Limits are per exam code — failing one credential does not block another.

Candidates who do not pass may retake the exam after a required waiting period that increases with each failed attempt. Waiting periods in detail: after attempt 1 wait 14 days; after attempt 2 wait 30 days; after attempt 3 wait 90 days. Limits apply per exam, so not passing one certification exam does not prevent registering for a different one. The exam fee applies to each attempt.

Mathematical ceiling inside a rolling year (list price × max attempts, no discount): Associate up to $396; Architect or Developer Foundations up to $500; Professional up to $700. Those are upper bounds, not predictions — budget one attempt plus a contingency for a second, and use the score report’s domain percents before spending that fee.

Candidates who fail to appear for a scheduled exam, or who arrive after the permitted late-arrival window, forfeit the exam fee and must re-register. A no-show costs another full registration without a score report. Confirm time zones for OnVUE and set reminders.

Renewal: free on time, full fee if lapsed

Each credential is valid for 12 months from the award date. On-time renewal is a free, non-proctored / open-book assessment on the Anthropic Partner Academy — there is no fee when you renew before lapse. That is the strongest cost-control lever after you pass.

Each credential is valid for 12 months from the date it is awarded. The underlying technology evolves rapidly, so the credential is time-limited to ensure holders maintain current knowledge. To renew on time, review what has changed since certifying and complete a free, non-proctored assessment on the Anthropic Partner Academy. There is no fee for on-time renewal.

If a credential lapses, the holder must retake the full exam at the full fee to regain certified status. If exam content changes significantly, Anthropic may require holders to retake the full exam to recertify rather than complete the renewal assessment.

Calendar the award date and block time in month eleven. Letting a $125 or $175 credential lapse turns a $0 renewal into another full exam fee plus another study cycle.

What is free versus paid

Free or no exam fee: public Claude Academy courses and completion badges; on-time certification renewal on Partner Academy; studying free content on this prep site. Paid: the four proctored list fees; every retake; lapsed recertification; optional Premium on this site; any third-party prep you choose.

Premium here is a separate purchase per certification for 1 year of access to tools like mock exams and the AI tutor — see the pricing page for the current amount. It does not replace the official exam fee or Partner Network eligibility. Prefer official exam guides and legitimate practice over products that claim leaked Pearson items.

If you are not in the Partner Network, you cannot register for the proctored exams no matter what you are willing to pay. Confirm eligibility before finance approves an exam line item. Cancel/reschedule rules conflict across sources (Pearson FAQ and Partner policies: 48 hours; at least one exam guide: 24 hours) — move appointments early and read your confirmation.

Total cost scenarios and planning checklist

Clean pass plus on-time renewal means one list fee ($99–$175), then free renewals while that path remains available. One retake then pass means two fees plus a 14-day wait — for example $250 at the $125 Architect or Developer list price before any partner discount.

All four credentials once each sum to $524 USD list before discounts or retakes. Wrong-code first attempts (paying for CCAR-P when you needed CCAO-F, or confusing CCA-F with CCAO-F) waste fee and wait time — confirm codes before checkout.

Checklist: confirm Partner Network email access → confirm official code → download the exam guide → estimate study from domain weights → decide if free prep is enough → approve list price (or checkout amount) → schedule early enough for a possible 14-day retake → set an eleven-month renewal reminder.
