Explanation

Two Integration Modes

Integration means fitting Claude into how work already happens, and it takes one of two forms:

ModeWhat it looks like
AugmentationClaude drafts a step; a human edits and approves it. The surrounding workflow stays the same.
RedesignThe workflow itself is reshaped around the new capability -- e.g., a Project that standardizes how a whole team produces client updates.

Good Integration Decisions

Regardless of mode, good integration:

  • Inserts Claude where it removes drudgery or speeds first drafts, while keeping human review at the points that matter
  • Keeps the workflow observable and reviewable so quality stays under control

Why Incremental Usually Wins

Augmenting one step at a time is easier to validate than redesigning an entire workflow at once: each augmented step can be checked against the prior baseline, while a wholesale rebuild changes too many things simultaneously to attribute a quality change to any one decision. Redesign is appropriate once a pattern has proven out through augmentation, or when the standardization benefit (a shared Project) clearly outweighs the disruption.

Common exam traps

  • "Redesign everything at once." Incremental augmentation is usually safer and easier to validate than a wholesale rebuild -- this is called out explicitly as a trap.
  • Removing all human checkpoints in the name of efficiency, which is exactly where quality and governance risk creep in.

Key Takeaways

  • Augmentation: Claude drafts a step, a human edits/approves, workflow otherwise unchanged
  • Redesign: the workflow is reshaped around Claude's capability (e.g., a standardizing Project)
  • Good integration removes drudgery/speeds drafts while keeping human review where it matters, and stays observable
  • Incremental augmentation is usually safer/easier to validate than a wholesale redesign; removing all human checkpoints is a governance risk
